Hip and knee replacement

When you have chronic joint pain that gets in the way of daily activities, total hip or knee replacement surgery gives you an option for long-term relief. Many conditions cause damage to the hip or knee, such as injuries, inflammatory disorders, wear and tear with age or repetitive activities, or other disorders.

Through joint replacement surgery, we replace worn-out or damaged parts of the joint to help you regain movement and reduce pain. Our team specializes in all types of joint replacement surgery and will personalize care to your specific condition.

Minimally invasive surgery

Minimally invasive approaches to hip and knee replacement surgery allow us to use the same surgical techniques and implants as traditional surgery but with smaller incisions and fewer effects on the surrounding tissues. Because of this, minimally invasive approaches often allow for a quicker recovery, less scarring, and reduced pain after surgery.

For hip replacement, we offer mini-posterior and direct anterior approaches, which are both minimally invasive surgeries. Our team will discuss the optimal surgical approach for your hip or knee replacement based on your individual needs.

Complex and revision joint replacement

A joint replacement can fail for various reasons, such as loosening of the implants, dislocation or instability, wear and tear, infection, fractures, bone loss around the replacement, or conditions of the ligaments, tendons, or muscles in the joint. When this happens, we provide options to repair or replace the existing implants, known as revision surgery.

Revision procedures are often complex. Our team provides you with experience in caring for a wide range of conditions that require specialized orthopedic surgical care, including complex revision surgery.

Partial knee replacement

Your knee has three compartments: one at the front of the knee between the thigh bone and kneecap, the inside portion of the joint, and the outside portion. Partial knee replacement, also called unicompartmental knee replacement surgery, is a type of surgery to replace only one compartment. This may be an option if your arthritis is contained to one part of the knee.

Because it uses a small incision and only replaces a portion of the joint, partial knee replacement often offers a quicker recovery. Many patients also report a more natural feeling and movement in the knee joint.

Computer navigation and robotic-assisted surgery

We offer computer navigation and robotic-assisted surgery capabilities, which are both technologies that improve precision and positioning during your surgical procedure. Computer navigation allows us to see a 3D view of your joint and the surgical tools in real time while operating. Robotic-assisted surgery uses CT scan imaging before surgery to plan your surgery and robotic arms during surgery to perform the procedure with high precision.

Same-day joint replacement

Traditional joint replacement surgeries require a stay in the hospital for several days. However, advances in replacement surgery allow us to reduce this recovery time. In some cases, we offer same-day hip and knee replacement surgery options, where patients go home on the same day as their procedure and recover from the comfort of home.

These surgeries use the same implants as other replacement surgeries but optimize recovery through minimally invasive techniques, anesthesia and pain control protocols, and immediate movement after surgery.

Surgical management of hip fractures

Hip fractures may have many causes, but they are especially common in older adults due to falls. Often, hip fractures require surgery to repair or replace the hip. We provide advanced surgical care for hip fractures, including periprosthetic fractures, which are breaks that occur around existing hip replacement implants. Our team will determine the right care for you based on factors such as the fracture location, bone condition, and the effects on the stability of any implants.
