Methodist names first president of new Celina hospital

CELINA, Texas — Methodist Health System has named Cody Hunter, FACHE, as the first president of its newest hospital in Celina.

Methodist Celina Medical Center is slated to open in 2025, but the 38-year-old Texas native has already assumed his new role and will immediately work to plant Methodist's roots in the northern Collin County boomtown while keeping the $237 million construction project on schedule.

"Cody is a natural leader with skills beyond his years and no doubt will enthusiastically engage with the Celina leaders and community at large," said James C. Scoggin, Jr., Chief Executive Officer, Methodist Health System. "Methodist Celina Medical Center is in great hands for years to come."

Hunter joined Methodist Health System in June 2021 as Vice President of Operations at Methodist Richardson Medical Center. During that time, he has overseen $80 million in capital projects and is leading the effort to develop a multidisciplinary ambulatory surgery center (ASC) on the Richardson campus.

"Cody has helped pave the way for performance that leads not just our health system but the market as a whole," said Pam Stoyanoff, President and Chief Operating Officer, Methodist Health System. "He will carry that dedication to patients with him 30 miles up the tollway to Celina."

A 2010 gradate of Texas A&M University, Hunter is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and was a 2023 nominee for the DFW Hospital Council's Young Healthcare Executive of the Year. He serves on numerous boards in North Texas, including the Richardson YMCA and the North Texas Paramedic Consortium.
