Methodist Health System wins four awards for peer & community impact

DFW Hospital Council Foundation honors nurses, employees and extern

Dallas – Methodist Health System is proud to announce that four employees were honored for their dedication to their colleagues, patients and community members. The recipients were selected from representatives of 61 area hospitals for the awards honoring individuals who have made a significant impact on patients, peers, and the community at large. Winners from Methodist are:

  • Gloria Daki, cashier at Methodist Mansfield, Employee of the Year
  • Kirsten Williams, nursing extern at Methodist Mansfield, student with the El Centro College Associate Degree Nursing Program at Methodist Health System, Rex McRae Scholarship
  • Rebecca Byrd, human resources generalist with Methodist Medical Group, System Award
  • Annie Jones, licensed vocational nurse at Methodist Charlton, Special Recognition.

“These award winners represent the dedication and hard work shown by all of our employees and physicians who are role models for Methodist Health System and the community,”Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Pamela Stoyanoff MBA, FACHE, says. “We are honored the DFW Hospital Council Foundation has recognized their compassion and dedication to serve and care for others.”

Ms. Daki, serves as a cashier in food services at Methodist Mansfield. She has been full time employee for 5 years, and is well known throughout the hospital and people love visiting with her at the Community Café. She always wears a smile and remembers every name.

Ms. Williams was honored for her work and pursuing her dream to become a nurse by attending the El Centro College Associate Degree Nursing Program at Methodist Health System. She enjoys her role as a single mother to her 4-year-old son, King. This great student, with a 3.47 GPA, is determined to become the best nurse she can be and serve as a role model for her son and for other single parents trying to make their dreams come true.

Ms. Byrd is a human resources generalist where she provides recruitment oversight and staffing support to the leadership team. She co-chairs the internal community service committee developing relationships with community partners for school and holiday toy drives and Easter basket drives. Ms. Byrd volunteers with New Friends, New Life and sits on advisory boards of Brightwood College and PCI Health Training Center in Dallas.

Annie Jones, 83, has worked as a licensed vocational nurse at Methodist Charlton for 50 years. She’s worked at the hospital for 55 years. She started as a nurse’s aide, earned her GED diploma, then her nursing license from Methodist Dallas Hospital School of Nursing in 1966. She is a beloved colleague, role model, friend, and mother to so many people, and Methodist is grateful for her years of service.

“We appreciate the opportunity to honor these great North Texas hospital employees,” said Kristin Jenkins, president of the DFWHC Foundation. “The goal of these awards is to make a difference in the quality of care by helping to boost morale in our hospitals and recognize the importance of each employee. Every nominee, the best of the best of North Texas, deserved to be recognized. We applaud each of them.”

For 21 years, the DFW Hospital Council Foundation event has highlighted the importance of the healthcare workforce and paid tribute to individuals who contribute to the success of hospitals, patients, the community and the families of those they serve.
