Eagle Society Members Learn Lessons in Leadership

Methodist Health System Foundation’s Eagle Society members were seeing stars and stripes for the second annual Eagle Society Dinner and Program on June 18 at the Dallas Country Club. The program featured Mark Updegrove, presidential historian and President and CEO of the LBJ Foundation, who inspired the group with lessons in leadership from U.S. Presidents. Eagle Society members arrived in the reception to mingle before being ushered into the ballroom by a steady stream of patriotic music sung by the Levee Singers.

Updegrove took everyone on a trip down memory lane, highlighting each recent president’s leadership style: Gerald Ford on the platform of “doing right” after the Watergate scandal, Jimmy Carter's mantra of "doing good," Ronald Reagan's “optimism” about a growing America, and Bill Clinton's "resilience." One clip showed George H. W. Bush’s "humility" as he welcomed in Dana Carvey to the White House to do an impersonation of him. It was a fun and memorable evening!
