Mammogram Preparation

You can help ensure an accurate mammogram by not wearing perfume, lotion, powder, or deodorant anywhere above your waist on the day of the test as these products can interfere with the X-ray. As a service to our patients, we do provide complimentary deodorant to use after the exam.

The testing itself will be faster if you wear a two-piece outfit, such as pants or a skirt with a blouse, so you only have to undress from the waist up.

When you come to your mammography appointment, bring along:

  • Your insurance card
  • Your physician's full name, address, and telephone number
  • Any previous mammogram x-ray films - these can help the radiologist interpret your new mammogram.

Please arrive on time for your appointment so we can stay on schedule and not keep other women waiting. Allow 20-30 minutes for the appointment, including registration, the actual test, and checkout. You'll receive your results by mail, and a copy will be automatically sent to your regular doctor.
