Visitor Policy

The safety of our patients, staff, and visitors remains as one of the highest priorities for Methodist Health System.

Please do not visit if you have any of the below symptoms:

  • Fever or chills
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • Fatigue
  • Cough
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Muscle or body aches
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Diarrhea
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

Patients not being treated for COVID-19 or suspected of having COVID-19 are allowed open visitation as long as it does not interfere with patient care. Visitors must wear masks, meet the above screening criteria, and adhere to visiting hours. Visiting hours are as follows*:

  • Methodist Dallas Medical Center: 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Methodist Richardson Medical Center: 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
  • Methodist Charlton Medical Center: 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Methodist Mansfield Medical Center: 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Methodist Midlothian Medical Center: 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • Methodist Southlake Medical Center: 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 pm.

*Day surgery patients may arrive earlier, per the patient's instructions.

COVID patients, or those being tested for COVID - Patients will be permitted two visitors per day, unless the patient's attending physician determines otherwise. The visitor will need to follow Methodist protocol and screening. If a religious counselor is visiting a seriously ill or dying patient, said religious counselor will be directed to the Pastoral Care Department for screening. Visitors for COVID-19 patients must also meet the previously listed screening criteria, as well as abide by the following restrictions:

  • PPE is required: Must wear the following hospital-provided PPE at all times while in patient rooms: a mask, gown, gloves, and eye protection.
  • Exit immediately: Visits will be restricted to the patient's room only. Upon leaving, visitors will remove their PPE, perform hand hygiene, and exit the hospital directly. They will not be allowed to stop in the cafeteria, gift shop, lobbies, or other areas.
  • High-risk procedures: Visitation will not be permitted if any aerosol-generating procedures (AGP) are in progress or have been recently completed for the patient.
