COVID-19:
Protecting our patients and visitors

At Methodist Health System, the health and safety of our patients, visitors, physicians, and staff is our top priority. We are closely monitoring the latest procedures outlined by state, federal, and local authorities, and following procedures outlined by the CDC. We are taking the following steps to better ensure your health and safety, so you can have peace of mind when making your next appointment.

Screening policy: Patients, visitors, employees, and physicians are screened at check-in at our hospitals. Screening includes temperature checks and answering a few questions. We have closed several patient entrances at all of our hospitals and some physician office buildings to better facilitate screenings.

Mask policy: Patients who are able, visitors, employees, and physicians must wear masks in any public area of our hospitals, academic clinics, and Methodist Medical Group clinics. Patients who are able are required wear a mask when their caregiver enters their room. If you don't have a mask, we will provide one for you

COVID-19 testing: Patients who require a surgery or procedure that involves aerosol-generating steps will be required to take a COVID-19 test as well as an antibody test 48 hours before the surgery or procedure.

If you're seeking a COVID-19 test, please contact your primary care physician to potentially be connected to one of our testing sites. If you don’t have a primary care physician, click here to find one near you. Drive-up testing is available to the public across from Methodist Charlton Medical Center by appointment only. Please call (214) 933-8811 to be screened.

Visitor policy: Same-day surgery patients are allowed one visitor provided visitors wear masks, meet screening criteria and social distancing can be maintained. For inpatients, no visitors are allowed, with the exception of individuals necessary to the patient’s care. More information can be found here.

Keeping you healthy at home
Our Methodist Medical Group clinics are open to serve you during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please be assured that keeping our clinics clean and safe is a top priority, as we understand that in some cases you may have a condition that is best served by seeing your doctor in person.

We also provide care in ways that do not require an in-person visit. These virtual visits allow you to interact with your physician via smart phone from the safety and convenience of your home. These care options include:

  • Epic Video Visits - a virtual visit with video conducted through MyChart
  • TeleVideo Visits - a virtual care visit conducted on FaceTime, Google Duo, or Skype
  • Telephone visits - a visit conducted only over the telephone
  • MethodistNow.Life – fill out a series of questions about your symptoms, and a Methodist Family Health Center clinician will respond with a treatment plan

Important reminder: Take Care of Yourself and Loved Ones
Social distancing is important, but so is maintaining your health and responding to emergencies. If you or a loved one is experiencing a medical emergency, such as chest pains or stroke symptoms like facial drooping or trouble walking, speaking, or understanding, please call 911. Our hospitals and our emergency transportation colleagues are all taking steps recommended by the CDC to keep patients safe.

If you have any issues obtaining any necessary medicine and health equipment to maintain chronic conditions such as insulin or blood pressure cuff, please reach out to your physician, as they can help connect you with these important resources. We do not want patients in our community to suffer a medical relapse from missing an important appointment or not getting a prescription refilled because they are fearful to come into the office. Please make maintaining your health a priority.
